Elton can't sing this song properly these days. His voice just can't reach those notes so he shouts in a lower key.

I was 19 and in college when this came out - it was a special time, with special music. And 45 years on, it's still tremendous.

Listen to the chord at 2:32 ...same as in "Someone Saved my Life Tonight". Early Elton would always pay the 3rd bass of the chord... it was really cool and distinct... totally Elton.

One of the best moments in music. He hits it for 6 here and did it with great regularity on stage and in the studio for about 5 years till the coke and other "entertainment extras" took their toll ,when he we went from being the greatest artist on the planet to just another really good one.Lad looks as good as he ever will in this clip love his bangs.

Something kinda special and greatly under rated about this fellow, Even to myself I think no, but when I listen it's like a little piece of big magic happens :) Awesome.

It took me growing up to realize what a brilliant song this is. It's beautiful and well constructed, a timeless masterpiece.

Just watched him do this same song on another youtube video that was taped in the last year. Great video, but his voice in this one is spectacular.

Oh sh@t, he is so much great at the piano. He plays the piano as if he was conducted an orchestra. Listen to his left hand, that is just amazing. But believe me, it sounds easy to hear and enjoy, but the dude sacrificed hundreds hours on his piano to perfect his art and his sense of the rhythm. What about his voice ... Have you ever heard at the so many covers of his songs on youtube ? all except a very few are just sh#t#. No one took the time to analyze his sense of the rhythm, no one except a very few took the time to hardly work and learn his melodies and subtleties. The point is, Elton John used to work and perfect his melodies like a perfectionist.Elton John was a f#ck2ng worker. I'd like to hear some covers from people who actually learn his music like if it was a score, not just with a stupid real time feeling without care of the ones who are listening.Come on guys, you can do it. Some of you have great talents, just learn it as if you may learn some classical musics. The heart will then follow, not the inverse.

A short little four-eyed dweeb from England. But his talent was too big to be ignored.
