Ok. Guy did not die until 2009. This album and song was put out in 2006. How was this about his death?

No, Elton does not say this song is about Guy Babylon! This song and album were recorded long before Guy died. He says he lost Guy a few weeks earlier, and that's all. Listen closely to the three verses and you will know who he's singing about. Three different people....

When he sings about the "Sun God" I thought he was referring to Elvis and Sun records.

I have most of Sir Elton's albums on cd. This is my favourite, along with Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy.

His album versions are always the worst versions. This song is sooo much better live

Correct.. Babylon WAS Alive... he PLAYED on the Album that this song CAME FROM. No I do NOT Trust Elton Live because he STILL says "Philadephia Freedom" came out in 1973... Check the release date....Elton is like anyone Else..a Little Forgetful sometimes and others just full of Bull....

Go look up Elton singing this live! He explains it was about Guy Babylon, and his untimely death before he even starts singing!! I don't care what Wikipedia say's it wrong, unless you don't trust what Elton himself says!

Wikipedia: ' Jump to: navigation, search "Blues Never Fade Away" is a song on English pop-rock performer Elton John's 2006 album, The Captain & the Kid. It is about love and loss, particularly the injustice of lives cut abruptly and all too soon by AIDS and murder. It is based on real people John and lyricist Bernie Taupin knew, including John Lennon, Gianni Versace, and a young woman whose name he doesn't mention.

"His passions hung upon the wall, and were printed onto cloth" sounds to me as if it's about a fashion designer.
