Wouldn't a hipster say Smith over Cobain since Elliott Smith is less known and has a less mainstream following? Don't get me wrong, I prefer Elliott Smith over Nirvana. I am not saying Nirvana sucks or anything, their music just doesn't reach me on a level that someone like Smith's music does. Smith came up with much more interesting chord progressions and lyrically it is hard to top some of his songs on From A Basement on a Hill ie "King's Crossing," "Memory Lane," and "A Distorted Reality"

so you're a hipster because you hate Cobain because hipsters like Cobain.

I'm trying to think which Nirvana song this sounds like on nevermind? Maybe they covered it?

His lifestyle didn't exactly encourage and/or facilitate looking beautiful.

The thing with Elliott Smith is: when you see him for the first time you indeed think he doesn't look very good, but then he starts singing and everybody just shuts the fuck up: he's beautiful

@misfitsg17 McCartney was good, but Gene Simmons had a better tongue.
