Easily my favorite version of this song. Elliott had such a talent for finding the button in your brain that makes you cry, and taking a hammer to that motherfucker

#ElliottSmith #BuonAscolto *Miss Misery*I'll fake it through the daywith some help from Johnny Walker red Send the poisoned rain down the drain to put bad thoughts in my headTwo tickets torn in half and a lot of nothing to do Do you miss me - Miss Misery -Like you say you do?A man in the park read the lines in my hand told me I'm strong, hardly ever wrongI said man… you mean You had plans for both of us That involved a trip out of town To a place I've seen in a magazine That you left lying around I don't have you with me but I keep a good attitude Do you miss me - Miss Misery - Like you say you do? I know you'd rather see me gone than to see me the way That I am, but I am In your life, anyway Next door TVs flashing blueFrames on the wall it's a comedy of errors, you see; it's about taking a fall To vanish into oblivion it's easy to do and I try to be but you know me I come back when you want me to Do you miss me - Miss Misery - Like you say you do?

@shoegazer747 The band: Could be he used it for shooting H , if it's a tight elastic band, or a leather strap, but it seems he wanted to be perceived as a cool guy, so it could be just an accessory too? :)

I think Smith may have written the song purposely open for interpretation and with a double meaning. When applied to the film Good Will Hunting itself it could be about a break up, or simply about Smith’s own depression, maybe Miss Misery is an ex-girlfriend and an emotion which plagues Elliott.

Um, you know music is being created still right? And by music, not this shit you are expecting to be spoonfed to you. American Idol or talent shows or whatnot have been around since the invention of television to a consumer market. Not that I disagree with what you are saying, but real music has always existed and will continue to exist outside of the "industry". It may be harder to find, but it's out there. It will always be out there if there are people that want to find it.

Yes but I also believe the greats are those who bring something new into the world - emotion is OK but creativity is the jewel. A good performer is like a master builder but the real kudos IMO goes to the architect.

Couldn't agree more with you mate, music is all about feelings and the way you share them. Along with Elliott Smith, Nick Drake was another great musician, sadly underrated.

As I said there is no loss that is greater than the other. It's hard to say what direction any of these young musicians could have went.

Shannon Hoon wasn't the biggest loss.

There is NO "biggest" loss. Many are tragic though, this is a Very tragic one indeed. Up there with the other greats. Kurt Cobain,Shannon Hoon,Jim Morrison,John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, this list is endless :(.
