"Les trois cloches" is a Swiss song written in French by Jean Villard Gilles. Edith Piaf and Les Compagnons de la chanson started their US tour in 1945/46 with this song, which was one of Piaf's greatest hits. The song was covered by The Browns in 1959 in English as "The Three Bells" (with words adapted by Bert Reisfeld)." Dutch singer/comedian André van Duin had a Dutch Top 40 number one hit in 1982 with his Dutch comedy version of the song titled "Bim bam"Édith Piaf ( 19 December 1915 – 10 October 1963; married name Édith Giovanna Lamboukas, previously Pills, née Gassion) was a French cabaret singer who became widely regarded as France's national diva, as well as being one of France's greatest international stars. Her music was often autobiographical with her singing reflecting her life, with her specialty being of chanson and ballads, particularly of love, loss and sorrow. Good god , that it so depressing . " Les trois cloches " ç"est une chanson qui explique a propos , la cloches de la mort , la cloches de funéraire et une cloches de l"église , c"est quelque chose , ha ! C"est une belle chanson mais c"est trop déprimant et bouleversant .
