A song from 1964 by one of my favorite singers. I don't think this song was as popular as her other hits of that year but it's still a classic.

check out her rank on Rolling Stones list of all time greats. Right next to Whitney Houston. At one time the most popular female singer in the world. Count Elton John as one of her fans. He stood in for her when she was inducted into the hall of fame.

Always my favorite Dusty Springfield song...the production has her voice a little too far back...needs more gain on the vocal.

The backing sounds American, was this recorded in New York and absolutely spot on for a brilliant vocal from Dusty. Why this was not released as a single in the UK is a complete mystery. One of the best songs she has sung.

Think this may have been a song that Dusty wrote.  Think it's really good.  Haunting melody.  Makes you wonder what she may have turned out had she stuck with songwriting.  But so many great songs already written  for her to cover, and so little time.

Anyone know where I could get the sheet music for this tune? Can't find it anywhere. Digital okay, I'm not a collector of original stuff, just want a copy. (Also "Guess Who?" and "I Had A Talk With My Man".) Thanks if anyone can help.

On this day in 1964 {December 15th} Dusty Springfield was deported from South Africa; the reason was that she had performed in front of a multiracial audience, which was a crime, at a show near Cape Town... A little over five weeks earlier on November 7th her "All Cried Out" was at #43 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, and that was also its last day on the chart...Her next release would be "Losing You"; it entered the Top 100 on March 7th, 1965 for a four week stay, peaking at #91...

On this day in 1965 {May 2nd} Dusty Springfield performed "All Cried Out" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'...Eight months earlier on September 20th, 1964 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #75; and on October 25th, 1964 it peaked at #41 {for 1 week} and spent 7 weeks on the Top 100...It didn't make the charts in her native England but reached #23 in Canada and #55 in Australia...Ms. Springfield, born Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, passed away on March 2nd, 1999 at the young age of 59...May she R.I.P.
