I'm a home health caregiver of an amazing man ~ 88 years a pastor w/Alzheimers. His wife was recently moved to a nursing home. I've witnessed the painful changing dynamics ~ affecting the entire beautiful family. I chose to take this journey & was well aware of what it entails. If you'll continue reading....Sitting in silence (waiting for his transportation to adult daycare & running over an hour late ... with him patiently waiting & eyes closed) 'something' moved me to play this song. Tears began to fall ... I look over at him ... he too had tears in his eyes & said to me, "It's true, honey. You're looking right at the evidence."The RARE moments he "comes back" ... the way he looks at me ~ as if he goes back in time ... this disease infuriates me; many times I question how much more my heart can take yet was so moved by the moment ~ felt it appropriate to share. The lyrics of this song may be trivial to many yet I am convinced that every word holds genuine truth & value. Obviously, blinking is literal but putting first things first should be just as literal ~ for any having taken time to read my thoughts, my prayer is you might listen to the song again ... through the eyes of a man who literally touched my soul.
