Maria, thank you for your fan and friendship!

Message to Dan Fans from Mariaglenn:

~It was the summer of 1973, a free concert at the auditorium had brought out a rather large crowd to see a new young talent, the Louisiana university had been abuzz with different ones asking if I was going to see Dan Fogelberg...

The lights dimmed, applause filled the room, and a young man walked out on stage, with a rather shy look he said "Good Evening", sat down at the piano, and flipped his long hair behind his shoulders, taking a quick glance to the side, the soft opening refrains of "To The Morning" rose on the quiet air.....to me, it felt like the world went frozen, and the room seemed filled with a mystical air...this was not my normal reaction to a concert...and I felt other worldly. After thunderous applause, he quickly followed with another tune...my ears heard...

"I was raised by a river, rolling past a town, given no direction, just told to keep my head down, and I took my position, a man fired a gun, I was so steeped in tradition, I could not run".....

and this is how a girl nicknamed River...born at the opposite end of a very long river, began her journey with a man who wrote the music of her life.....

I never was able to explain to others, what happened for 34 years, the visions, the dreams, the unreal concerts, the whole mystic of it all, brought me to the conclusion, that Dan actually did walk, "The Spirit Trail"...his visits in vision, the secrets he told, I had no way of knowing...sometimes even years later, reading an interview from Dan, he would say the things he had told me years before in dreams, and visions....it all left me in the light of day, wondering what was happening to me... in the year of "Full Circle", the last song to be shot deep into my heart was this one..."Whispers In The Wind"...

I asked beggarsgame if she would make a tribute video of it, in dedication to all Dan's Fans, who loved and missed him as much as I do...happily Donna agreed...and it was my pleasure to select the images, and music, and to write this dedication to his fans, in his memory...

Lastly...I believe that Daniel Grayling Fogelberg was a true Renaissance man, sent to the Earth, to spread his light, love and joy to all who took the time to listen...not only a wonderful person, a magnificent musician, and composer, artist, photographer, and more...he was the kind of person others proudly called their friend...Dan.. was my spirit friend..we walked the spirit trail together....only time...and the river of souls will answer the other questions that remain for River........... ~

His father's influence is everywhere. He should have been scoring music for Broadway. He speaks the language of music in a way most musicians only dream about.

In 1984, I worked at the Hilton Hotel, in Allentown, Pa, While at work one day, the word began to circulate, among the employees, that Dan Fogelberg was eating in the Masterpiece Reastaurant. Sadly, I was familiar with Dan's music, but not with Dan! I've regretted that I wasn't the least bit curious to see what he looked like, and why he was so famous. Even if I had known who he was, I wasn't the kind of person (or employee) that would hound him for an autograph, or disturb his meal. I met many famous people at that job, but always kept any fandumb (sic) under lock and key.

Pretty haunting melody. Great ending, too! From the poet laureate of contemporary American music :-)

Iridium Halo

I first heard Dan Fogelberg In Indonesia in 1978 where I was living with some Americans at the time. When I got home in 1980 one of the first things I did was to buy every piece of his music I could. The one time I was aware he came to Australia, I was out of the country. So I never got to hear him live. I was saddened by his death.
