you can also guess that its F# if you know anything about bass strings. the last string is too big to be a C, and the first string is monstrous

I'm not exactly sure, he might have used it for Vengeful or something, or else he might have done some harmonies on the new record. I can't hear them, but it's really all about preference. He might even just want his thumb resting on a string while he plays.

This is preety cool, this bassist in Cryptopsy now, and he's 22, so this guy was 4 years old when Cryptopsy released their first album and now this guy is their current bassist, haha.

@BassGrindcore But why though? What's the point of the F#?

BassGrindcore

Yep, it's F#-B-E-A-D-G, you can check the sound of the fret and string with a bass. I know because I can play some parts of the song and it matches perfectly with that tuning.

@GasmaskGorbachev762 Well if that's the case, that seems like a very inconvenient tuning for the band hes in..... :/

You realise that he isn't ever hitting the lowest string on his bass right? His thumb is sitting on it the whole time, unless I'm mistaken.

It's B, and you use the strings as needed for the material, not to just show off.

Pretty awesome. Tremelo parts could either be cleaned up, or done with 16ths for clarity. Try dropping the third finger, and instead use an upstroke/down stroke technique with your first two fingers. Tell me what you think. p.s. I can't wait for the new album, best extreme metal band ever.

@GasmaskGorbachev762 low F#? You realize that the standard tuning for a six string bass low to high is BEADGC right? There is no low F#......

GasmaskGorbachev762

I'm wondering if he's going to use that low F# string as well hehe.
