I think that this song is about a relationship where the woman and man really love each other but they are both at different points in life. Although they love each other the guy knows he isn't good enough, he has a woman who believes in him and sees good things in him but he doesn't see it and he can't be the things that his partner believes he could be.He knows she is thinking about leaving because he isn't becoming who she knows he could be. She is tired but keeps trying with the relationship because of hope and love.He is pushing her away because he knows that there is someone out there who will be all she needs.
