Color Theory presents Depeche Mode is a one-man tribute to Depeche Mode, complete with two new instrumental interludes. The album reinvents eleven of their most underappreciated songs, and also includes the track "Ponytail Girl", the Color Theory original that was mistakenly credited as a Depeche Mode track from their Exciter album.

It's the chord progression with the bass synth that makes people think its Depeche Mode, but clearly they don't know their voices, your voice doesn't sound like Dave, you sound like yourself.

i remember hearing this and thinkig.... wao.. depeche mode has a new track and no one told me. then i did the research and realized it was color theory. very cool band.

Ok, now I'm curious. I've been listening to this song for years now. Who's singing? Is it you or Martin? Or both of you? I thought I had fine ears but now I'm not sure anymore :P

Thanks for the kind words! I don't really remember what inspired the song, it's been so long (2001?). I just remember that it was the first song I recorded for a new album (Life's Fairytale), and that it flowed really easily!

This song, while "resembling" that other band, never quite fit. Nothing about it was quite right. Love the song, but weird (if understandable) that it wasn't recorded by them. You have a unique perspective and style. Use that.
