On this day in 1958 {February 15th} Chuck Willis performed "Betty and Depree" on the Saturday night ABC-TV program 'The Dick Clark Show'... Twelve days earlier on February 3rd it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #33 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #15 on Billboard's R&B chart... Sadly, Chuck Willis passed away two months later on April 10th, 1958 at the young age of 30 {peritonitis}... R.I.P. Mr. Willis and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
