This is such shit lol. I don't see why they do this if they can't play it there are plenty of others to choose from that aren't mindblowingly hard.

Why is he bothering with the artificial harmonics on the chorus? It's like "I want people to think wow cool, how is he doing those so fast and doing vocals at the same time AND playing a lead?" Very sloppily... that's how. -_- Alexi.

:D at the comments, when I go to see a band live its not to enjoy their flawlessly performed songs (thats why they also release CDs btw.) but to feel the music and be in the crowd, surrounded by ppl that like the band as much as I do. maybe i am whats called a metal fan and most of you are metal critics... (nice analogy I just came up with: if you read an awesome book but there were some typos in it you wouldnt trash it either, cus the story is amazing)

For all the idiots criticizing the performance.1. It's not a terrible performance, you're being over critical because you think what you type on youtube hiding behind your computer makes you cool. I've got news for you, it makes you look like a fucking tool - so shut the fuck up.2. They don’t even play this song very often btw, but there are plenty of FLAWLESS performances by Alexi of KTS on youtube and a lot of them are as recent as 2013/2014.3. Even if you can play this song (and btw half of you saying that are probably talking absolute shit - and if you're not, upload a fucking video and show us - talk is cheap, you bitch. But anyway.. Even if you can, do you really think sitting down in a chair in your room, getting as many takes as you like and being able to edit and redo parts is the same as Alexi playing live, on tour, potentially drunk, with all the pressure of thousands of people watching you, while singing and about a hundred stage lights blinding you as well as the likely factor that a huge amount of fatigue after all the traveling has set in? If you do think it's the same, than do us all a favor and jump off of a fucking cliff - because your utter stupidity is clear and indicates that you can contribute absolutely nothing to society - you are fucking useless.4. I bet none of you who are talking shit realize the amount of injuries Alexi has had in his arm, shoulder and wrist.. Had the same thing happened to you motherfuckers you wouldn't be able to fucking play "smoke on the water" so kindly shut your mouth. 5. Let's address "James Chance", who uploaded a cover of the song.. It's a pretty sick cover, dude, not gonna lie. Kudos to you for being able to play a song like that.. HOWEVER, it's far from perfect.. Even you apologized for the mistakes in the description.. Furthermore, notice how you're sitting down in a comfy ass chair, playing the song with no pressure, nobody watching you and being able to do as many takes as you like AND not having to sing.. And I know you did more than one take because you say in your description "and of course all my pinches harmonics sounded like crap just in that take" and even after all of that you still couldn't play it perfectly.. Now you did play it well, but not without flaws. That statement may seem too critical? See how it feels? So don't ever compare it to the way Alexi has to play it (as explained above in #3). Also you say that Alexi doesn't play well live? Well him live too and played absolutely fucking flawlessly (this was in 2013 btw) and there are countless videos on youtube of his flawless live performances.. The more you talk the more you seem like the kind of person I described in #1 (the overall meaning being you just being way too over critical) Anyway, you did play the song quite well, but a guitarist of your skill should be able to realize it's one thing to be able to play KTS (let alone play it under the conditions Alexi has to play it under) but it's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT story to be able to play it perfectly, which you did not do and you can see Alexi play the song perfectly on videos on youtube, so stop complaining...6. You guys are comparing Alexi to other guitarists who are indeed extremely talented, but do not sing at play at the same time and also there overall songs are nowhere near as fast as Bodom songs. It's true the the people you've mentioned (Vai and Petrucci) play extremely well live and have ridiculously hard solos.. But here's the thing.. Their pure shred in some of their songs may be even harder than this song.. But the amount of switching between techniques that Alexi uses in this song and the difficulty of those sections is insane. Also Vai is 54 and Petrucci is 47.. Alexi is 35. So for people talking about him in relation to practicing more.. Who do you think has had more live experience? The fact that he is able to play so well in a much shorter period of time is crazy. Also, Alexi was about 21 when this song came out, how can you not appreciate him writing such a masterpiece at such a young age!? Again this is also just one performance which is being too critically analyzed and there are so many videos of him playing this song perfectly.. And just to be clear I prefer Alexi to both John and Steve, I think his music is much, much better. It's great to be technically talented but so musically gifted is God like.7. Look at both older and newer performances of Alexi playing KTS, you will be in awe of amazingly he plays the song, never make a judgement based on a single performance that in your opinion wasn't good..8. I’ve been playing guitar for a long time, so my comments about the technicality, structure and over composition as well as performance are not coming from me talking shit. I don’t give my opinion when I don’t know what I’m talking about. If i have anything else, I’ll add to this later. But this is it for now I guess.COBHC Forever
