The studio version Chicago did of this song is better in my opinion. It is a great tune though.

By the way, did you guys know, that this song first came out as a B-Side in 1955 by Bo Diddley ? Other famous versions can be heard from the Yardbirds, and the Spencer Davis Group, with Steve Winwood on vocals and organ.

Of all the covers and other CTA versions of this song live - this one is still the best. The percussion is KILLER and the slide works hand in hand with all going on here.

Chicago Transit Authority was a great band. Then Peter Cetera dominated the band with lame pop.

Well my pad is very messyAnd there's whiskers on my chinAnd I'm all hung up on musicAnd I always play to winI ain't got no time for lovin'Cause my time is all used upJust to sit around creatin'All that groovy kind of stuff.I'm a manYes I amAnd I can't helpBut love you soI'm a manYes I amAnd I can't helpBut love you so.Well if I had my choice of matterI would rather be with catsAll engrossed in mental chatterMoving where our minds are atAnd relating to each otherJust how strong our wills can beI'm resisting all involvementWith each groovy chick we seeWell I'm a manYes I amAnd I can't helpBut love you soI'm a manYes I amAnd I can't helpBut love you so.I got to keep my imageWhile suspended from a throneThat looks out upon a kingdomFull of people all unknownWho imagine I'm not humanAnd my heart is made of stoneI never had no problemsAnd my toilet's trimmed with chromeI'm a manYes I amAnd I can't helpBut love you so.I'm a manYes I amAnd I can't helpBut love you so.

I was 18 years old when Chicago Transit Authority came on the scene. Does anybody know what genre they are in?

I honestly can't think of another band in music history that changed as much as Chicago did. The band has said time and time again that the changes were due to record company pressure. That's only a half truth. Record companies have always exerted pressure on bands (without changing them), and yet I can't think of another band that so drastically changed... from edgy and progressive to watered down, pop ballad sweet. This change was all about the money; plain and simple. While I can tolerate the newer stuff (barely), I have infinitely more respect for the older stuff. And if they had stuck to their roots, they'd be in the R&R Hall of Fame by now.
