Mama Cass was funny, always. I don't just miss her great voice. OK, this one was probably scripted but she could ad-lib and she did. I think she could now do stand-up. You need to have been through some tough times to do that and she qualified.

How dare you mock Johnny Cash. Billy Joel, David Bowie, and even Michael Jackson were influenced by JC. If Jackson followed the Beatles, the Who, and every early british invasion band from 1964-66, it all comes down to Johnny Cash.

Jason Aldean recently sold out Fenway park in 7 min. Faster that Bruce, The Stones and Aerosmith. I read an article a few years ago that said they found out that for many decades they have been miscalculating the country figures.

What I wrote is absolutely true. My largest client was a record company. Country will pop up here and there and be popular for a while but doesn't last except in the traditional areas. The only places where country music grew and stayed popular outside of that are the western states except the west coast.

Country does not outsell rock and pop anywhere but parts of the south, midwest and some western states. Most big cities in the north and east or west coast no longer even have a 50,000 watt country music radio station.

It was only recently that they realized that country has been out selling everything else even in the big cities. The Beatles were simply amazing. That does not mean that Cash didn`t have a huge influence on music for a very long time. I agree about Britney and Rap.

There's no doubt as to the standard of a country 'hit'. Country music hits were measured in the tens of thousands while rock and pop hits sold in the millions. You can argue forever over which is better depending upon what you like. You can also argue - which I do - that no matter how many records it sells, Britney Spears, etc. or especially rap is worthless and in rap's case it isn't even music. But the Beatles recorded for 7 years and sold 20 times as many records as Cash did in his life.

He was in his time. That is your opinion as to the standard of country hits. Some of Michael Jacksons songs were not that great but apparently people liked them.

Johnny Cash may have had more 'hits' than the performers you mentioned but only because the standard for country hits is so low. Johnny Cash was a big star but he was 90% country and 10% rock. Michael Jackson,David Bowie and Billy Joel have all sold far more records worldwide than Johnny Cash. Not to belittle Cash but don't make it seem that he was more popular than performers that could sell out a 100,000 seat stadium anywhere in the world in less than an hour.

Did you even read what I wrote? She was excellent but she was not and most likely never would have been a legend spanning 5 decades. Like him or not Johnny Cash was a once in a lifetime performer.
