Anyone who does not know Cab Calloway does not understand what cool is. It all came from this era and performers like him.

I think i've watched this about 23 times a day since I found Mr Calloway on monday. There's something about it that I can't get enough of. Surely thats what a perfect performance is? what do you think?

I agree with what you said about us being allowed to appreciate his voice, but surely he is a clown, in the best possible sense? A cool talented clown. His sense of humour really makes it for me anyway.

Yes, but intrestingly enough, Earl Fatha Hines says that cab didn't have but a smidgen of the talent his sister Blanche had! she was definitely the superior muscian. Cab was basically a showman, a song and dance man who fronted a band, not a real musician like Duke, or Count, or Nat, or Billy Ekstine. His sister was; she was the first woman in jazz to conduct all male bands. Valaida Snow, the most talented performer of the period - black or white, male or female - followed in her footsteps.

Punkas call themselves players in show business today - THIS was an original player. He can sit in a chair and carry a performance like this. WHo can do that today?

it s great to see him sing in a slow tempo and let us apreciate his voice - what year was this recorded ? -- too bad there is allways something clownish in his way. this is quite a document anyway.

This song is a testament to the diversity of Cab Calloway. When I first heard this song I teared up quite a bit, even now I still threten to start crying a bit. Thanks Cab, I didn't mind the ear Bend.
