Traveling through Louisiana on I- 10 west on a Sunday, hauling a load of corn to I don't remember where. I turned off the satellite music. Lo and behold a kind of music I've never heard before.Zydeco music has never achieved real commercial success but that doesn't matter to Cajun people. My life was enriched by my fathers best friend. Julian was his name, a man that came from the humblest means living off the bayou. Julian is a Cajun, and our families grew up together. Imagine six young boys and two adult men in a small camper on a fishing trip "up North" I think I'll write a story about our family travels together.Anyhow, back to Zydeco. After listening to it fade in and out on the AM radio and it was gone and my day over I cracked the laptop and studied up on the history of Zydeco. I'll not go into it, you can do it on your own.Here is a man and his band that has reached some commercial success.Buckwheat Zydeco, aka Stanley Dural Jr. doing a cover of a song most everybody knows. He is playing with a musician that refuses to be pigeon holed into one style of music. He has played with punk bands and heavy metal too. Dwight Yokum.
