The Siege and Investiture of Baron von Frankenstein's Castle at Weisseria by Blue Oyster Cult from the Imaginos album

Lyrics:

On the terminal point

Of the cul-de-sac

Patients are dying

The horses are dazed

From the glare of stars

The starry wisdom

Owned by the baron

And he's got the cure

A drug by the name of world without end

A drug by the name of world without end

A drug by the name of world without end

Come and take this.................carpe diem!

World without end..................carpe diem!

You'll be inventor.................carpe diem!

Invention, letter, earth, wind.....carpe diem!

Rhymed like the real...............carpe diem!

And real as the rhyme..............carpe diem!

Imagine this baron.................carpe diem!

Inventor of rhymes.................carpe diem!

Imagine he was me and I was called frankenstein

Imagine he was me and I was called frankenstein

Imagine he was me and I was called frankenstein

Carpe diem!

Carpe diem!

Carpe diem!

Carpe diem!

He was me, and I was called frankenstein

He was me, and I was called frankenstein

He was me, and I was called frankenstein

This song is true hard rock in a classic way. The mighty BOC should tour with Van Halen. It would be a fun combination. (yes I know, this is a weird idea)

What an amazing album, and this song in particular...I'll go weeks or months without listening to it, and then when I do, I bitch at myself for having gone so long. Its unique, and while not a 'true' or 'pure' BOC album, that does not detract from its greatness. Its unfortunate but also understandable that they don't play it live. In a way that adds to its mystery.

The solo on this IS by Joe Satriani (contrary to the comment below). I met Albert and Joe Bouchard back in the summer of 2000 and we had good long discussion about this album. Joe said that Buck originally recorded a solo for this song and they all thought that was done, then Satch came in and recorded one that was just a "little" better (he said with a smile and a wink). So that's the one they used. Straight from the band members who were there--it's Satriani doing the solo.

Only a freaking awesome band like blue oyster cult could pull of a song with such a long name. Which evidently makes it more awesome!

i wish i lived in a world of mad scientists, a world less technologically savvy, castles on cul-de-sacs always shrouded in clouds and lightning....and monsters.

Listening To:

I went through a phase where I could not listen to the "Imaginos" album enough. I called it "college". However, as an example of a story album done right Blue Oyster Cult stands as a darned good example and I still love the songs. Who else could pull of a title like *The Siege and Investiture of Baron von Frankenstein's Castle at Weisseria*? Here's a little nearly seven minutes of heavy-duty, big-time rock for you from smack in the middle of the story as my apology for leaving you all without anything for so long.
