If the Teleri had lended their ships peacefully, if the third Noldor host had come along, if the Vanyar and Teleri had joined the campaign, Morgoth would've been defeated in the first few years of the war and Angband would've been assaulted. But they didn't, none of them did, and the Noldor paid the price, they paid the price for having the courage to stand up and the price for defending the Sindar, even if unwillingly. They were blamed for the sack of Doriath, but if not for them, Doriath would've long fallen to Morgoth's power.The Noldor are not the unwise and rashful madmen. They are the heroes, and the victims, of the Simarillion story.
