Viking Metal... A really lame and pretentious "sub genre", if it's even that. All I ever hear is guitars doing "rhythm" and some shitty synths. I like Bathory, but I can't tolerate Quorthon thinking Viking Metal was less childish than ranting on about Satan, given that the music itself is so weak in comparison.

Not a culture in the traditional way, maybe a too young one. Anyway, @HeyYoKillEmo whats wrong with writing about vikings? From that point of view it's not worthy knowing about history, because it has already past away. It's not like Quorthon thaught he was a old viking in the present, it's more like he is giving tribute to the culture and the country he is proud to be born in, although it may have changed through years. We all do that in a way or another, flags, anthems, cities, schools, etc.
