Scratch my back with a lightning bolt -

Thunder rolls like a bass drum note -

The sound of the weather is Heaven's ragtime band -

We all fell down from the Milky Way -

Hangin' round here till Judgment Day -

Heaven only knows who's in command -

Barefoot children in the rain -

Got no need to explain -

We'd be swingin' on a ball and chain -

It's always understood by those who play the game -

Barefoot children in the rain -

Show me yours and I'll show you mine -

Take me back to days full of monkeyshines -

Bouncin' on a bubble full of trouble in the summer sun -

Keep your raft from the riverboat -

Fiction over fact always has my vote -

And wrinkles only go where the smiles have been -

Barefoot children in the rain -

Got no need to explain -

We'd be swingin' on a ball and chain -

It's always understood by those who play the game -

Barefoot children in the rain -

La la la la la -

La la la la la -

La la la la la -

La la la la la la -

Barefoot children in the rain -

Scratch my back with a lightning bolt -

Thunder rolls like a bass drum note -

The sound of the weather is Heaven's ragtime band -

The sky turns blue and the sun appears -

But the question's still what are we doin' here -

I don't think the answer's close at hand -

Barefoot children in the rain -

Got no need to explain -

We'd be swingin' on a ball and chain -

It's always understood by those who play the game -

Barefoot children in the rain -

In the rain... -

In the rain...

This song makes you want to go outside and do some puddle splashing, It's been pouring outside. It's beautiful.

A good song to make us remember that we are all just kids , no matter what age , and to not get so serious !!! I worked for JB many years ago . Pretty much does not practice as he preaches , an asshole , in fact , but I forgive him , and he writes great songs !!!

Love this song, definitely one of my favorites. But then there aren't any Buffett songs I dislike. Think I own all his CD's. First time I saw him, before the Coral Reefers or Margaritaville, was I think 1968 at a bar, somewhere on Gulf Blvd in Madeira Beach, St Petersburg Beach, Indian Rocks can't remember exactly.

having a terrible time remembering but i swear the first time i heard this song (it might have been ten or so years ago) that there was thunder in the background. i heard this song for the first time in years tonight, had forgotten all about it until then. but since its late and i dont want to wake everyone i have the sound down low. but... IS there another version with the thunder or did i happen to find someone elses modified version? Regardless, i love this song. reminds me of being a kid.

Just be glad that they get the chance to grow up. Some children don't.

This song reminds me of my daughter that was killed in 9/11. She always loved to play barefoot in the rain on the beach. And it was absolutely hilarious because she would trip and fall in the wet sand. I used to tease her that she copied this song.

My name is Lowry. One sunday long ago in Key west JB and my wife make this song. My kidds Playing out front in the rain. All of us had hangovers ( Bad Hangovers ) They put this together in 30 min's it was so funny. This is the first time I have been able to hear it. On 6-5-1995 I lost them to a drunk Driver on Plam Ave / KW. I hope that You will understand. With tears in my eyes. God bless you all. 2-4-2013 LD
