Kudos to Joni for making a vocal rendition of this song which was most often recorded as an instrument. It is a difficult song to sing and play on the piano. I find myself often stumbling over the notes' phrasing on the keyboard, and then I find myself back on track. Thank you for putting this rendition on YouTube; it prompted me to buy a copy of the LP so I could have this one song.

Joni was familiar with "Autumn Nocturne" because the writer had written many of her hit records. As you can hear, she navigates the very tricky melody an very wide range of the song, easily and right on target. For some reason, people sometime had the impression she had a small range, or could only do simple songs, but as is clear here she could navigate even the toughest song easily, no editing, no splicing, all in one live take. And with the greatest feeling imaginable.
