Great sixties soul sound from the late Alvin Cash. Always a good one to play way back then and still sounding good today. Issued in the UK on Stateside in 1964.

It's a sample of what is Northern Soul in the UK. Recorded in 1964, "Twine Time" peaked at #14 on American Billboard Magazine's Hot 100 chart in early 1965. Alvin was from St. Louis, Missouri and recorded mostly for the Chicago-based Mar-V-Lus label.

For a long time every Saturday night in Austin Texas was Twine Time with the great Paul Ray. He played this to start the radio show on KUT FM

Nice song, but you have to be a curious young cat to love looking at a vinyl disc on a turning table or at a logo on a background changing color

Been much too long since I heard this great song. Remember hearing this as a teenager. Be sure to listen to Cissy Strut by The Meters and I'm A Roadrunner by Junior Walker & The Allstars for more funky grooves.

No one can tell me that this "slipped" (unevenly-timed) 4/4 beat with hits on THE ONE isn't the beginning of the FUNK beat! Recorded in 1964....timing's about right for JB to pick it up in '65 and run with it!

This was THE jam at all the parties in the early '60s. EVERYBODY got up and did the Twine when this was played. So many good memories from my childhood listening to this song.

They used to play this song during pre-game warm ups at my high school basketball games in the mid 60s - got the crowd and the team pumped up.
