‘The Northern’ from the album Old Crows / Young Cardinals.

---

Old Crows / Young Cardinals is the fourth and final studio album form post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released on June 23, 2009. The album was originally referred to by the shortened titled of Young Cardinals until the name change was announced on April 1, 2009. The album debuted at #81 on the Billboard 200, making this Alexisonfire's highest charting album in the US.

---

Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.

I do not leave comments very often but alexisonfire really fucking changed my life. The greatest band I've never seen live. This song has gotten me through a lot of shit. When you listen to it over and over the notes, the patterns, the voices all coincide and have a purpose for the song's overall theme. It's perfect.

Everything about this music video is just so bad ass. The cinematography is phenomenal, and how George descending the hill on the line "He comes, He comes." A lot of people are saying that the song would be better without George's vocals, but I think it adds a lot of contrast to it, and it breaks up the song. Otherwise we'd get 4:38 of Dallas singing the same lines with the same vocal pattern. That'd be boring! The fact that he brings crusty Casualties vocals and his old screaming in this song shows how experimental he was getting with his vocals, and I appreciate that so much more than hearing the same thing over and over. But hey, it's my opinion. Feel free to convince me otherwise.

Such a badass track. Whether you listen to it as an (new) old field hymn, a song about how faith can help you through hard times, a song about how misplaced faith can cause/worsen hard times, or some combination thereof, it works perfectly...

You know, always see people bashing religion and all, but here is a point, and read this, and then, re-read it so that you fully grasp and understand my statement before posting an idiotic response. Now, most people claim to be against religion, and don't believe in god.... Etc. etc... Point is, if you are one of thise people, why does it bother you soooo much and drive you sooo insane that other people do believe in something? Hear me out, because the internet is full of trolls, kids, and people wih entirely too much time on their hands. If you truly do not believe in something, or dont want to be involved that is your choice, just like it is mine to believe in something. So please people, why not just move on to something instead of bashing someone or throwing a little 12 year old fit because someone does not believe what you do? Enjoy life how you want, it is your choice. Thanks for reading.
