Diz at his finest here, and the musicians are all really diggin' the scene. The audience too is appreciative you can tell. Symphony Sid, as for him, has rather a strong voice, hasn't he?

I love Dizzy Gillespie and his music. He was such a great person with a big heart, humor, humanitarian love, and great musicianship.

Damn, Parker looks real slim! This was probably before he was destroying himself with booze and coke. But they all are killing it!

Thanks for posting this.  My 90 year old mom is dying and I am listening to this as a tribute of sorts.  You see, she used to drink and I used to drink.  Now and then we went drinking together.  It was a treat for her if she found this on a jukebox or the band could play a version of it.  THANKS AGAIN!

Sinatra said the biggest influence on his singing was Tommy Dorsey, actually Dorsey's trombone phrasing. Sarah Vaughn styled much of her singing on the early boppers like Bird and Diz.

Every time I hear this song I chuckle. For my band this past year in high school, we tried to play this song. My friend and I nailed the sax part, but everybody else just whined and complained. Absolutely love this song, one of my favorite songs of all time.
