A song composed by Rick Springfield that goes unnoticed because of it's release in the 70's when the absurdly false rumour was spread regarding his album Beginnings. When people started gossiping that kids were being payed to purchase Beginnings, radio stations refused to play the album and his musical career in the 70's pretty much went down the tubes. Cheers to him for gaining his due in the 80's.

But here he is, for those of you who discounted the rumor and for those who believed it, Rick Springfield in the earliest days of his career. I hope to have this music heard almost 4 decades since it's release, and hopefully with more respect than it originally received.

My first and favorite of all his records thank for posting this one from that album. I used my baby sitting money to buy it in Aug, 1972 just after seeing him on Dick Clark's American Bandstand.

I still have this album. It was my mothers. But in 1978 I was 4 years old and she was playing it. I fell in love with Hooky Joe. He has signed it twice and I am hoping for a 3rd time this Sept. at his show! I love this man!!!

@gracehopper1 I have uploaded a copy of The Ballad of Annie Goodbody from on of my LPs. Check it out. I also placed the remainder of the Beginnings album that I couldn't find. Songs like "Lead Me On", "Mother Can You Carry Me", "Come On Everybody", etc. Hope you enjoy.

I had all of Rick Springfield's albums from the 70's and 80's. He was my first love in music. I like the stuff from the 70's more than any other ones. This is one of my favorite songs. The Beginnings album is my favorite album by him.

I always considered this LP to be one of his BEST. It was Rick before the fame and fortune...and to me, his talent was far more evident in these "under-directed" tracks...without the massive pop studio sound that the 80s gave us. I actually purchased this LP three times...and played them to pieces.

This is actually the 5th best song on this fantastic LP. What's the best? "Mother Can You Carry Me", which is in my list of the 100 greatest recordings of the 70's. I cry everytime I hear it because it is that powerful.
