Sandy Denny - Solo - 1974

Thanks to GinaInTheKingsRoad for this info: 'The Fairport Convention lineup here would shortly record "Rising for the Moon": Sandy, Donahue, & Trevor Lucas (all formerly of Fotheringay) plus Swarb, Dave Pegg on bass, and Dave Mattacks on drums.'

A truly gorgeous vocal, fine supportive band, and "antique" video quality. Let's count our blessings!

The clip is missing the very beginning: Good morning, good afternoon, and what have you got to say ...

Thanks for giving us the chance to see this. The picture quality may be poor, but there is so little surviving film of Sandy Denny that every clip is priceless, and the sound quality on this is surprisingly good.

i love Sandy. Although it seems, that nothing has happened, i don´t want to be desperate. i´m a German, having a very difficult time, living near Hannover. i would like to pray more intimate. i´m totally sure about Jesus (since 1972, when i was 17),but i don´t feel his spirit in a very strong way, so that it would be possible to do wonders at once. i´ve never seen Sandy perform, but ...

in the meantime i believe, that Jesus will do wonders soon.

it's hard to find the right words. i hope, Jesus will do wonders soon. i love Sandy's songs so much, and i wish, she could sing her song 'For Nobody To Hear' here on earth again!

I really wish there was more footage of Fairport and especially Sandy Denny, as she is my all time favorite singer. It's baffling and frustrating to know so little video footage of her exists today. Having said that I am forever grateful even amateur footage of Sandy like this video has survived! Any video of Sandy to me is gold. To hear her lovely soprano is soothing to the soul. God bless her. Thanks for uploading this!

good to see fotheringport confusion (not fairport confusion as used on documentaries) used. this was used at the time. i am behind sandy on the 'solo' clip, with hand on hip. myself and phil benton were sandy and then fairport live engineers/road managers for about 6 years 1971 on . by God i miss her. Utterly awesome! Bit of a lost treasure here. Would love to see the original master brought to the surface!

I've read (and now can't find) statements that this full show was recorded by the university where they were playing, which would makes sense since this looks like it's being live switched from a multi-camera setup. Wouldn't it be great if someone dug up and restored the master?

Thank you for posting this. It's a shame, there is so little existing footage of FC with Sandy.

This is not from a Fotheringay show; they disbanded in 1971. The Fairport Convention lineup here would shortly record "Rising for the Moon": Sandy, Donahue, & Trevor Lucas (all formerly of Fotheringay) plus Swarb, Dave Pegg on bass, and Dave Mattacks on drums. There's a reason they call this era "The Fotheringport Confusion!" Thank you for the upload.
