Hard to note that Robert died only a few short weeks after this performance. So very sad.

Many, many thanks to Robert, Andy Taylor, the Sadistic-Mika-Band, Backup-Singer, all musicians, camera-people, video-editors, and the folks who found and posted these performances on YouTube. What might not be obvious, is that at a minimum, there are 3 cameras going to capture this performance, and possibly more. My first impression on listening to this was how weak the audio seemed, but switching to a quality pair of headphones corrected that, INSTANTLY. Sadly for me, THIS performance: "Addicted to Love" seems to be somewhat lacking, energy-wise, compared to the song they did just before, and opened this mini-concert with: "Simply Irresistable".

I loved watching Robert here, he seems to be having fun with his fans. no it isn't a top notch performance but when it's live, its a different situation. I read a lot of negative remarks here about his drinking, etc. SIGH. I will only say he was a talented man with his weaknesses + flaws, getting older ... and remained brilliant until he died. I smiled over the remarks that he sweats alot, but hey, he always did! So do I, and I'm not on drugs or anything, but it looks better she HE does it! yeah, he's still the man....

Hard to watch this...almost a parody of what the wonderful Robert Palmer had been. Bad backing vocals. And he wasn't allowed ever to escape the 'Goils'.This isn't how I want to remember this gorgeous and talented man....but I agree, he was having a ball here.

In Andy Taylor's book - he writes that RP invited him to perform at this midnight performance, which Andy happily agreed to do, even after an earlier show playing at the Budokan with Duran Duran. What Andy recalls is that there was a bottle of whiskey in RP's room which he did not drink BEFORE the show. Apparently, RP told Andy that he couldn't do it anymore - drink copious amounts of alcohol prior to a show. But after the show was over - they both finished off the whiskey!!!

You have no proof of your stupid allegations of cocaine use. Kindly shut up. Try performing for 30 odd years and see what it's like. Artists lead totally unnatural lives unlike the rest of us average people. They travel, rehearse at all hours, don't have their close family/friends around to support them, have all kinds of demands placed on them, and yet the show must go on. Before you criticize his sweating and other stupid things you said, take a minute to THINK before you speak.

i've read every piece of info re robert i could find and there isn't a hint of drug use. He'd have had a record by this point in his life.Don't spread rumors if you can't substantiate them. You damage a persons reputation that way. He does appear inebriated. He's no spring chick anymore either. Ppl forget we age and can't do the things we used to do. We can also have underlying health issues. All of this might have contributed..he does not look well in this video at all.

It's clear that RP had too much to drink before this performance, but I don't see any evidence of cocaine use whatsoever. Robert was against drugs as a rule, and apart from tobacco and aclohol, I believe that was true. He's sweating because he's wearing a suit and tie which was his custom, anyone would sweat while performing like that! There's no way Robert would have been able to be the prolific, multi-talented and consistantly top class performer he was if had been a drug user. He was a legend

Man is he messed up. Blood pressure 390 over 280, sweating like a pig, but yet a performance in a $1500.00 Armani suit thats not bad.A class act and total performer til the end,It must of been next to impossible to get cocain in Japan but somehow he managed. God bless him RIP

@TheElissaS What concrete proof do you have that Robert Palmer was a "heavy cocaine user" and died of an overdose? I've read everything available on this man and nowhere have I seen any medical finding or anything else by a credible source that states that he died a cocaine-related death; he simply had a heart attack. This man has left us a 30 year legacy of phenomenal music. He does not deserve to have his reputation trashed by reckless, unfounded rumors from a few irresponsible individuals.
