From their 1970 debut, self-titled album. The J. Geils Band hail from Boston, Massachusetts and this song right here basically helps prove that these guys were (and still are) one of, if not the most soulful band that's ever come out of the great city of Beantown! And that's not forgetting about all of the other great musical groups to come out of Boston and the Boston area like Aerosmith, Boston, The Cars, Donna Summer and Billy Squier (Wellesley).
This song has a strong 1960's R&B influence in it. These guys truly did learn from the best of them during that time. They had great taste in music, and I've discovered a lot of wonderful classic R&B/Soul/Blues artists I may not have heard about if I had not listened to J. Geils Band so I'm thankful for that!
Lyrics:
Baby, baby, baby what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurr-hurr-hurry?
Gimme just a little more time
We could make it work out fine
Ain't no use in lyin'
I don't want you to leave
I'm going to stop pretendin'
That you don't mean a thing to me
Baby! You seem so set
On tellin' poor me goodbye
We've been together so dog-gone long
And deserve one more try
Baby, what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurr-hurr hurry?
Gimme just a little more time
We could make it work out fine
You say your mind's been made up
By leavin' me behind
You say you're head's been messed up
'Cause I treated you so unkind
You got your one-way ticket
And all your bags are packed
You're leavin' in an hour baby
And you ain't never comin' back
Baby, what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurr-hurr hurry?
Gimme just a little more time
We could make it work out fine
Baby, what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurry?
Baby, what's your hurry?
