JJ Jackson's recording is one of my all-time very-favorite recordings and I don't often like covers, but as acadiaman1 commented, this is one helluva cover; wow! Keeping the brass front-and-center is essential (of course) and even the xylophone! but JJ Jackson's spirit is very much alive in the vocals, too! Awesome!

Let me tell you something, I had the original by JJ Jackson which was great and I mean great! However, when Huey Lewis & the News recorded this with Tower of Power on the horns, I was totally blown away totally!

Huey is the only cat who covers this classic with any credibility - but nobody belts it quite like JJ Jackson. I used to sing with JJ and his band back in the '80s. He puts on one powerhouse of a show. Huey's recording helped kick JJ's career back into high gear.
