Howard Jones - New song 1983

I've been waiting for so long

To come here now and sing this song

Don't be fooled by what you see

Don't be fooled by what you hear

This is a song to all my friends

They take the challenge to their hearts

Challenging preconceived ideas

Saying goodbye to long standing fears

Don't crack up

Bend your brain

See both sides

Throw off your mental chains

(Instrumental)

Don't crack up

Bend your brain

See both sides

Throw off your mental chains

I don't wanna be hip and cool

I don't wanna play by the rules

Not under the thumb of the cynical few

Or laden down by the doom crew

Don't crack up

Bend your brain

See both sides

Throw off your mental chains

(Instrumental)

Don't crack up

Bend your brain

See both sides

Throw off your mental chains

Ah he's playing the MemoryMoog - one of the earliest synths that worked just fine when not plugged in to anything at all, including power

Oh and i forgot, Howard Jones was never angry. Popular maybe, loud not really, i guess that depended on how load you turned your radio up. And i'm skeptical of the term "credible skeptics". ;)

Hi hobotopper, Thanks for bringing my attention back to this excellent song. This could be the song for world peace.

I don't think Howard Jones has ever been arrogant enough to claim he was a philosopher. Compared to the lyrics that were going around at the time, it was good to here some positive lyrics. Don't over intellectualise everything you hear or read. Some of your so called philosophers would be rolling in there graves if they could see how there work has only survived because of people desperate to be clever. Stop wearing a beret:)

Hi ageofgrace thanks for your ideas. Dawkins et al give aspects of the argument that religious ministers won't. Dawkins recommends reading everything, look at all evidence.Like lyrics of New song- see both sides. I think there is going to be an ok outcome for all humanity whether there is a god or not. If no god then we will become extinct which is ok and if there is a caring god then also something ok will happen- extinction or happy everafter.

Richard Dawkins and Bart Ehrman, Christopher Hitchens..... "top Philosophy"? haha Real philosophers throughout history would roll in their graves if they heard of the garbage these hacks spew out. They are angry.....they are loud.....they are popular. But they are not philosophers or credible skeptics.
