First time I've heard this version, and must have listened to Sandy Denny's a thousand times, so it cam as a bit of a surprise. But must admit I think they do a pretty good job and there's no denying you can hear the words a lot more clearly.

"The Original" Give me a break! Do you have any idea how old this Child Ballad is?! This is one version of the song. The earlier Fairport Convention version is just another. Just look on all of the Youtube versions to get an idea of the variety of interpretations that are possible. Less judgment, more appreciation of variation.

@simonmedrano Sorry I can't imagine anyone singing that but Sandy Denny, in Fairport. (I do like many other non-Fairport versions.) BTW Sandy got it from Anne Briggs.

This was a great video, I loved how the roles were reversed with Janet being Arwen (an elf) and Tamlin represented by Aragorn (a human lord) it had a nice irony to it that only added to the flavor of the song.
