Last I checked, Crystal Bowersox did this song in English on American Idol, but her version doesn't even hold a candle to Esther Ofarim's version. This song was originally written in German by Hans Bradtke (this is the version Esther is doing), I feel like all songs are at their best in their original versions. And, no, AI didn't bring me here, good music taste did. I may be young, but that doesn't stop me from being a HUGE Esther Ofarim fan. Now sit back, everybody, and enjoy what was. This video is amazing. I have watched it dozens of times and Ms. Ofraim's vocals are perfect for the song. The song is my favorite in the world.She sung the original version, which is the one also sung by Perry Como. Sinatra sings the newer one. The end of this version includes the original Danish lyrics by Hans Bradtke: "I might have known,But who can guess? I'd hear a sound And turn around To emptiness I run to see Who can it be That laughter on the stair? But who is there? The summer wind"
