This is the news story that ran on WSMV in Nashville the evening after Dottie's fatal bus accident. She was dear to me. I recorded a live album for her just one week prior and we were also working on a studio album & a tribute album. She was truly a singer/songwriter legend. Thanks to Chris Tatum for such a great story.

I was watching Family Friendly Entertainment and saw a picture of Dottie and wondered if she had passed away. I came on here to see and to my shocking surprise she had been dead for years. I still cried as if it was today. She was a true follower of the Lord. I praise the Lord for those who give their lives to the Lord and are willing to stand up know matter what they are going through. She will always be in my heart. I know she is celebrating with my mother today.

No one can replace Dottie Rambo I played her tape every morning to work back in the 70,s and 80,s until I wore it out their harmony stands alone.

I love the duet Dottie sang with Barbara Mandrell "I Will Glory In The Cross." It is so beautiful and you can see it on you tube.

Another line from one of Dottie's songs is "I'll fall asleep and wake in God's new heaven" - and that's exactly what she did. God knew her personal fears and took her before they became a reality. Today she's in Heaven - free from pain.

I want to tell you something!I had NEVER heard of Dottie Rambo until I heard Vestal Goodman sing some of her songs.I was just flabbergasted at the beauty of her lyrics.Saying such as : If there is no God, then there is no ocean, there are no stars, etc. And this jail cell of flesh, and the bars of bones, etc. This Lady was truly a servant of the Lord to have even reached a city boy such as myself. ( I came from Brooklyn N.Y.) And between herself and the Goodmans, I must have heard those tune many times while taking myy wife to Kentucky and back, long before they had Onstar or orbiting devices. It was in the hollers between Western Penn. and Ohio that I heard those melodies at night. Here it is 40 some odd years later, and I am STILL delighted to hear their records. I pray that Dottie & vestal,& John are going to find a place in God's choir. Goodbye Dottie, John&Vestal Goodman. One doesn't realize what's missing until it is gone ! Goodbye & thanks for your service in and to the Lord.

Dottie was asleep in her bed in the back of the bus. When it slammed into the embankment - it forced her into the headboard and I think her neck was broken. She had a metal rod in her spine that was very delicate and an impact like this would have ended her life.

What a disrespectful thing to bring up when those who loved Dottie are STILL mourning her loss. Leave Buck out of this! This is about a lady who suffered in ways you will never know or understand. I lived with her and took care of her for almost a year. I saw the pain she lived with every day. It was something you had to witness to even begin to understand it. But, she never gave up - she fought it every day of her life. So, let's rejoice that she is with her Lord and is no longer suffering.

Dottie was ill. She had been very ill for many years, since the surgery that terribly damaged her back. But, Dottie fought through the pain and continued to sing and minister as much as possible. You can't imagine the pain she suffered - because when she sang - all signs of pain disappeared. However, she was weak in her later years but she never lost her desire to serve the Lord. She died doing just that.

The world has lost a talented singer. What was the bad weather that occurred at two in the morning?
