I love the voice of the late Elsie Hopkins (Bonnie's Mother) it made me FALL IN LOVE INSTANTLY with this song, This could have been a #1 hit if had been promoted properly.

For most of you who don't get the opera part, that's Bonnie's Mum actually singing the opera portion (may she RIP) and I love everything about this song, raspiness and cracking,,,,,that's Bonnie's voice and she got it like that and there are many of us who love her just as she is....raspiness and all!!!!

The raspiness kind of works though... it makes it a bit more "heart breaky". Like she's a shot of whiskey away from complete and total emotional collapse. Not technically perfect but hell, it does it for me.

I like how the aria from Madam Butterfly is in the background. It is one of my favorite opera songs!

I agree is she is cracky here and almost too raspy for this but I just love the missing verses that Air Supply did not sing

So perfect song. Jim Steinman and Bonnie together. When I heard this first time 1996. I've thought I left this world and entered heaven. It's so beautiful that the angels in heaven crying. Jims music will live for a long time and people in the future will ask themselve. Why in heavens sake where they not get him moore credit for all the masterpiece music his created.

...... -_- seriously, im a fan of hers but she aint even pronouncing the words properly and her voice is to crackly for the opera type song she does do a good cover but she just cant top air supply with the format of the song. in total eclipse of the heart she beat them because that song was written for her type of voice. she has a nice voice but her voice is to cracky, but i just wish air supply sang the lyrics she did lol it sounds more dirty lol

Polish poet Mickiewicz asked: "Where is human, who understand whole sense from my song". I dislike Puccini's opera "Madama Butterfly". One piece from the opera deftly woven into the hit and everything sounds great, but Puccini's opera together with the music is full of incredible cruelty. That's all.

This is a classic reason why we are all just "different colours of the rainbow". It's great that we like - and dislike - different singers. Personally, my vote goes to "Madame B." Since you aren't so fond of her, I give you full credit for listening to the complete cut. Well done. Personally, the song finally came home with her voice; it has the power to deliver the strength in the upper range, where this song needs it the most.
