I love TVZ's music but I've heard better singers. His guitar picking is amazing. I think he beats Willey and Emmylou in that aspect... by miles. A for a song writer well he is simply out there where you really can't compare. I do notice small word changes here and there... maybe he was drunk.. again. Hope his passing was painless and that we get to see him on the other side. Bet the angels shut up and listen when he plays.

@luketdrifter2100 Getting this was referring to the point I was making, which clearly went over your head and continue to reaffirm that you are not, in fact, "getting it." I love his song writing, but the reason he has been so vastly overlooked is due to his performance of said songs. I don't know how to be any clearer so you do "get it."

@JadedRockStar84 Townes was NOT known for a beautiful singing voice. He had a traveled, rough, been there voice. It fit the beauty that is his writing. I've been "getting this" long before you have.

@luketdrifter2100 How are you not getting this?

@JadedRockStar84 Nobody is on par with Adele. Her voice is a once in a million. I disagree with your logic.

@JadedRockStar84 I have listened to his music from his younger years and he just isn't a great singer. His lyrics are up as good as any I've ever read or heard, but that just goes back to my initial comment to begin with.

@luketdrifter2100 HAHA. Take a look at what "pop" actually stands for. It simply means "popular." So, if a lot of people like any single musician, no matter the genre or even key it was sang in, it is classified as pop. That doesn't change the fact that his vocal process wasn't on par with the likes of Ray Charles or Adele, but make no mistake, I would just as soon listen to Townes as either of the aforementioned.

@JadedRockStar84 Turn off the pop music, he could sing. I will give you his timing is off....this was near the end.

@JadedRockStar84 listen to him when he was younger... he could at one time...... i still prefer to hear him sing all of his songs... no one does them better ... believe that !

His timing is off and he can't sing worth a damn, but his words are mesmerizing.

You guys should check out this song on his Live at the Old Quarter album. It's by far the best version of this song I've ever heard.
