the only record 78rpm in Mamasan's beer joint just out side the camp gate in Japan in 1951 just before the 40th Inf was commited in Korea. We played it a 1000 time while the girls brought us a Jap beer.

Daddy would listen to the and tears would roll down his face. And I knew how much he missed his Mom and Dad. Now I miss my Dad and Mom and know how he felt.

Oh to have them with me today, I would lay my head in mothers lap and weep for joy, and would sit and watch dear dad as he tinkered with his old cars...I miss them so....Thanks for posting

Greetings! My Dad had a re-recording of this on two LPs and always kept an eye out for this version. Roughly fifteen years after his death I found it on a 78; it stands as a top favorite outside of my specialty.

Found this via Berry Gordy's book "To Be Loved." Writing about his Korean war service he says on p. 58 "The Only American song I can remember hearing became my favorite -- "Mom and Dad's Waltz," a country song by Lefty Frizzell. Yeah-- Lefty Frizzell. So What! I was scared and lonely and this simple music spoke to my homesick heart." Lovely.

We take our parents for granted, thinking they will always be there, when they are gone nothing can fill the void.Love and treat your parents with respect, they wont always be with you.
