Okay, these are the facts of country music. There is "real" country as people like to call it like the style of George Jones, George Strait, Alan Jackson. This is traditional country. Once Garth Brooks hit the radio, country pop was born. Garth, Clint Black, Tim McGraw. Then there is another category which kind of fits in the middle - the days of Martina McBride, Trish Yearwood, "contemporary" country music. Keith arrived in 1999 with some great pop country as well as contemporary country, but he has always been more towards the pop side. All of these different categories ARE country music, just different variations of it. So it's not fair to say, this isn't country. Anything that is played on country radio IS COUNTRY MUSIC. I have been a journalist in the field of country music for a very long time, so I am not just saying words here. Keith Urban is a top notch artist who is very much loved by millions of fans. He has had over 15 top #1 hits in his career; has grammy awards, entertainer of the year awards, and is one of the best entertainers out there. Go to a concert and you will know what I am talking about. His new music is different, but that's okay. He has a right to go on a different journey with his music if he so chooses. You don't have to like it, but don't insult the man just because you don't like it. I'm not a fan of these current radio hits that get played a million times a day. It's only fair that Keith get his own fair share of airplay. I may be a little prejudiced since I have been in his fan club for 12 years, but I have met the man himself, attended 7 concerts, and can attest to the fact that he is genuine, inside and out.
