Noone is a good singer, but (for some reason) this is not his song. Does not supply the charm of the Left Banke.

They may have gotten the idea from Orpheus, who released a version in 1968 that used Never My Love harmonies on Walk Away Renee. You can find it on their second album, Ascending.

Melding of two different tunes going on with this one I think. A little Never My Love in the intro and outro. I like the version by The Left Banke better though...probably because it is the one which became popular. However, these guys either got the chord progression wrong at the tail-end of the chorus, or Left Banke altered it a bit to make it flow better...or something. I never knew these guys had recorded this one though. This is some vintage stuff right here though. ;)

Okay, this is an my 3rd favorite of this song. Left Banke still number 1, followed by the Cowsills at number 2. Great job by Herman and the Hermits.

It suits them perfectly! What a shame it wasn't released at the time.
