This song really shows how rocking Ringo can be on the drums!

Thanks for watching!

I like the deep tuning of Ringos kit.

Paul is playing a bass drum with sticks as Ringo is on the full kit.

His base drum work is very rhythmiic and very good. Especially the sycopated triplets, which, to me, would be really hard to do in real time, as though perhaps this part of the drum base line was done with recording equipment. But who's to say, Ringo was a great drummer with perfect meter who was able to pull this off.

Of course Ringo Starr never ever used a double pedal. Youtube comments section sometimes never ceases to astound me. He did use two rack toms at the end of The Beatles (Get Back Sessions and Abbey Road Sessions). That's probably what this person is confusing it with.

Man... the rythm pattern from 1:25... Those hi-hat triplets with the bassdrum on the upbeats... Honestly, the guy is really, really good.

Ringo did have signature fills, many of which he used multiple times on live performances and on different songs on an album. But during the later years of The Beatles, his drumming style varied from album to album and it was on this period that I hear many of his unique fills that can never be heard on any of their other songs. Abbey Road to me is one of the best drummed albums in the late 60's and he had made similar fills on a number of songs there.

He's using the snare in all the downbeats in parts of the song that's not in 4/4. He didn't play the snare on 2 and 4 in the 5/4 measures so he played it safe , and played all downs.

I don't understand why there's people always saying that Ringo's drumming is not that good, I mean... The man plays the song! You can tell which Beatles song it is by just hearing the isolated Drums!

I absolutely love ringo. I feel like a dick pointing this out but he claimed to never use the same fill twice but at 2:29 he uses a fill he uses in strawberry fields. But do you realize how hard it WOULd be to not use the same fill twice?

Perfect snare sound! We have such advanced recording technology today, yet drums don't sound nearly as good.

My vote is for someone else (probably PM) playing another bass drum with mallets... Probably along with RS at the same time.

I think you are right about that. To me, it sounds like it may be bare hands on a drum or some other surface with a towel on it. It is a different sound from the bass drum, which you can also catch in there.
