Where did you find this stereo mix? It's mono everywhere else and sounds excellent either way, but the stereo version is fantastic.

I just love the way she wove Native American words into her songs such as Choctaw, Chickasaw, Okolona,  Talluhatchie (spelling) through out her songs.  She was brilliant.

On this day in 1969 {January 29th} Bobbie Gentry performed "Okolona River Bottom Land" on the CBS-TV program 'The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour'... Fourteen months earlier on November 19th, 1967 the song entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #82; two weeks later on December 3rd it would peak at #54, and the following week it remained at #54, that would be its fourth and last week on the Top 100...Between 1967 and 1976 she, as a solo artist, had eight Top 100 records; one made the Top 10, but that was a big one, "Ode to Billie Joe" would reach #1 {for 4 weeks} on August 20th, 1967...She charted on the Top 100 three more times in duets with Glen Campbell; "Mornin' Glory" {#74 in 1968}, "Lei It Be Me" {#36 in 1969}, and "All I Have to Do Is Dream" {#27 in 1970}...Ms. Gentry, born Roberta Lee Streeter, will celebrate her 72th birthday this coming July 27th {2016}...

Country-Jazz.....as only Bobbie Gentry could do it. No band was this edgy, raw and soulful all at the same time -- at that time. 1967! It's an entire genre all those bands missed or could not master. This lady was not just talented, she was incredible. The ideas, the creativeness, the originality, the arrangements. Can't believe the Grateful Dead, the Allman's and bands like that didn't tap into her when she was performing. She's in a category all her own and the R&R Hall of Fame? Their all asleep or golfing with.....

This is my favorite album ever! I drove my family crazy playing it continually. I fell in love with this girl back in 1967 the first time I heard her! I wish she'd comeback. It's hard to believe she could have given up writing songs!

I wore out this album listening to this song over and over and over...Had to buy a new album and wore it out too. And Courtyard, the last cut on this album- one of my favorite Gentry songs.
